Day 4: San Francisco to Denver, Colorado

Early start.  Our friendly asian Chrysler Voyager taxi driver Bill met us at The Handlery Hotel right on time at 07:15 and got us to the SF airport with plenty of time to spare.

Uneventful flights to Denver via Phoenix with US Airways.  The landscape through Arizona was flat, bare, sandy & treeless and they were headed for 42deg C today in Phoenix!  Glad we weren't stopping there!  The flight crew were very relaxed and friendly; mostly blokes and mostly middle-older generation.  On one flight, which was only half full, Tom wanted to do the Sudoku puzzle in the back of the in-flight magazine but someone had already written on it.  One of the boy hosties searched the plane for one but no luck.

(Jo taking over the writing now).......

Picked up our Suburban (black like in CSI), and much to everyone's amusement (except mine) my feet don't touch the floor when I am sitting in my nerve wracking passenger seat.  Yes I can hear you all laughing at the photo already........

The kids have just had a swim in the barely heated pool, and now Grant and Tom have gone in search of a supermarket in the hope of buying a stash of fruit and veg, and some healthier choice food for dinner.  Hoping for an early night after our early start, then off up into the mountains tomorrow, will have to get a John Denver CD to play in the car.

Hope all are well
Love Jo

  1. Amazing! I have managed to get onto the blog for the second time with absolutely no idea how I did it! I'm recommending email next time for we computer illiterate! Denver sounds very picturesque and the after being to New Zealand I can kind of imagine the winding roads - I don't blame you for hanging on tight! It's a wonder Tom feels like eating with all those windy roads! Ryan is very jealous of your Vans, Zac. Pretty cool. We have enjoyed your pics so far so keep posting them! Making me wish for a holiday...Take care, Love Narelle
